Welcome to Be Proud Tasmania

Be Proud Tasmania provides a safe space for the Tasmanian LGBTI community to tell their stories about harassment, vilification and discrimination. Be Proud is a joint research project of Working It Out, TasCAHRD and the Tasmanian Gay and Lesbian Rights Group.

As people who live and work within the LGBTI community and via our interactions with the LGBTI community it is evident people continue to experience discrimination and harassment based on their sexual and/or gender identity. We believe much of this goes unreported due to concerns of repercussions from perpetrators or perceptions the relevant authorities don't respond adequately.

We believe it is important to get an accurate picture of what the LGBTI community experiences so that appropriate responses and supports can be established. 

Working it Out, TasCAHRD and the TGLRG lodge a joint submission for funding to undertake this important research project. Working with experienced researchers we have established this survey which seeks your input about your own experiences. It is confidential no identifying information will be made available to other bodies. In fact, the online survey allows you the option of providing contact details (if you chose to) after you have completed the questionnaire, via a separate form which is not linked to the information you provided in the survey questions.
